Welcome
This website has been produced by the Somerset and Devon Bottle Club to provide a data base of Devon bottles.
Clicking on an image will open an enlarged view of that item, so that you can see more of the detail.

The Somerset and Devon Bottle Club will be holding its 14th Annual Exeter Bottle and Collectors’ Fayre on Sunday 14th August 2012, between 10.00am and 2.30pm, at the Denman Suite, Exeter Racecourse, EX6 7XS. For bookings, contact Rod Martin (01822 616503) or Simon Waters (07887 887090). Early entry is £3, with public entry after 12.00 noon at 50p. There will be hot and cold refreshements, a raffle and displays. For more details, click on the image on the left.
Collecting together images of all the bottles from Devon towns is going to be an enormous task, and may take several years. To start with I propose keeping just to mineral water bottles and brewery/wine and spirit merchants’ flagons but later extending our scope to include potlids, beer bottles, advertising etc.
It is likely that there will be a learning curve on just how we manage and operate this website, but in order to make a start I have put on bottles and flagons from my own town of Tavistock. I hope other club members will follow my lead and provide similar information, using images of bottles in their own collections, for the other Devon towns.
New additions and improvements will be made on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
You may spot similarities between this website and the Cornish Bottles website. Thanks Wayne for a great idea, every county should have such a website.
From the 1st November 2010 the bottle club will have a new website www.southwestbottles.btck.co.uk
which lists the dates of club meetings, and promotes the annual bottle show. This replaces our previous community website which has now been closed on account of BT changing their service provider.
